I am a practitioner of Western Herbal Medicine. I customise dried herbal liquid extracts (as well as homoeopathics) as medicines for our clients’ individual needs as they embark on their healing journeys.
Herbal medicine (or herbalism) is the application (and study) of medicinal plants in order to help the body re-establish its own ability to self regulate and repair its self from illness. Medicinal herbs can be taken in forms of a tea, a concentrated liquid extract or as a compressed tablet. I prefer to use the dried herbal liquid extracts (tinctures) due to the potent and quick effects when the herbs are taken in this form.
I qualified as herbalist when I graduated from the Dorothy Hall College of Herbal Medicine in 1998. Shortly after, I began a 4 year apprenticeship style practitioner training course with Bill Giles based in the Canberra clinic, learning to apply the “Health Ecology” / “Medical Ecology” protocols, which included bioenergetic medicine, yoga practice and corrective exercise techniques, food testing, understanding human biology; and Neuro Emotional Technique (NET) training. After completing my apprenticeship I stayed on working as part of the team in the clinic.
I really love what I do, and I want you to enjoy your body and wellbeing as much as I enjoy mine! Since working with Bill Giles over the last 20 years I have without hesitation applied all of our clinical principles in diet, food elimination and testing, exercise, yoga, (as well as my herbal and homoeopathic medicines), to myself which has allowed me to achieve outstanding health in my physical body as well as my emotional wellbeing. Aged in my mid 40s I take pride that I can still enjoy long distance running, hold a black belt in traditional Okinawan Goju-Ryu karate, as well as partake in my love of surfing with no injuries so far, or having to “slow down”.
I have been blessed to be working in Bill’s practice over these years, with my role in helping our clients overcome their illnesses as well as helping them maintain better health for the longer term, and guiding them to understand and make the best choices for their health
Some of my other interests in health and well-being include massage, Chinese medicine and acupuncture, anti-ageing, skin care, hormonal health and ketogenic diets for reversing weight issues, reversing lipodema, and reversing insulin resistance. While I don’t offer massage or acupuncture in the clinic I am a firm believer in the benefits that these modalities have to offer.
I am an accredited member of ATMS.
